DIGITAL CAMERA USE AND APPLICATIONS
“A new technology is rarely superior to an old one in every future”.
This statement means that most of the new technology has its advantages over the old form of it but it also has it disadvantages. For example, digital cameras, below is the advantages and disadvantages of a digital camera.
Advantages –
- See the photos after you have taken them
- Choose what photos you would like to print
- Keep a copy of the photos on a computer or USB
- Adjust or adapt photos on a computer or USB before printing
Disadvantages –
- Printing of a photo is no longer a surprise
- People are able to delete the photos they do not like of themselves
- Very few hard copy photos are collected any more
Some of the ways digital images can be stored and transferred and manipulated using other communications technology is through the internet, computers and USBs. Images can be downloaded from a digital camera onto a hard drive, such as a computer. From here the images can be altered by a number of programmes on a computer. This adapted image is then uploaded to the internet where millions of people can view it. Most people upload images onto websites such as, facebook, bebo, blogs, and myspace. These websites have security settings that the user can alter to suit them, for example some people wish to ensure that no one else can view their photos except for themselves and friends. On the other case a number of people up load the images in which anyone else can access the image and use it in their own way.

A digital zoom is linked to the pixel count. This means when the image is enlarged or cropped the quality of the picture is poor as the pixel count changes.
Optical zoom’s quality does not change when enlarged. So with the optical zoom the pixel count remains the same.
Mega Pixel is one million pixels. Mega pixels are not only in digital cameras but are also used in the number of image sensor elements of digital cameras or the number of display elements of digital displays.
